When it is not the right choice
Not for application on the roots of fine hair, as the rich butters can weigh it down. Also, it is not a replacement for protein repair in cases of extreme damage — choose Intensive Mask instead.
How to use
- 1After shampooing, apply to damp lengths and ends.
- 2Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes.
- 3For porous hair, leave for 10 minutes under a warm towel.
- 4Rinse thoroughly with water.
Rhythm 1 to 2 times a week instead of conditioner.
How it works
The main mechanism for preserving color with this mask is very simple: a smoothed and sealed cuticle naturally releases color more slowly. The mask works by binding its conditioning ingredients to damaged areas like a magnet. Shea butter restores the lipids lost during the coloring process, while carnauba wax leaves a thin protective film that provides shine and a barrier. Citric acid keeps the pH acidic, which helps the hair cuticles close and lock the color inside.
Although this is a surface treatment and not a structural repair, this smoothed surface dictates how quickly your shade will fade. Beneath the surface, powerful antioxidants from tomato, magnolia, and rosemary protect the color from free radicals, while the amino acid complex acts as a sponge that binds and retains moisture within the hair.
Tips from the salon
- On freshly colored porous hair, leave the mask under a warm towel for 10 minutes for better results.
- Dose a walnut-sized amount for shoulder-length hair; excess can weigh the hair down.
- Alternate the mask with a conditioner; do not use both in the same wash.
